MEDIA Salles organizes the seventh edition of the training course "DigiTraining Plus: European Cinemas Experiencing New Technologies" in Helsinki, Finland, from 17 to 21 February 2010.

This initiative, the only one in the MEDIA Programme to focus on the new technologies from the cinemas' point of view, is open to exhibitors and representatives of professional associations and public institutions who wish to prepare themselves for dealing with the digital transition by getting to know the opportunities and risks involved.

The course programme is based on a blend of lectures on burning issues, such as the present position with regard to standards and the availability of digital contents, the identification of business models that have already been tried out or are being adopted in Europe and the prospects for 3D, with visits to cinemas that use digital projection and talks by well-known international professional players.

In the middle of September 2009 a new arthouse cinema in Vilnius, Lithuania, will be opened.

It is the first private initiative in the country to screen arthouse films, there will be 2 screens (155 and 85).

We have collected most of the required equipment and seats from the cinemas that have closed recently, however some items are still missing.

Fellowship for International Understanding through Film Program Brings Filmmakers from Africa and Bosnia Pleasantville, NY

Le cinéma européen devient à nouveau le grand protagoniste du printemps cinématographique dans la ville de Ravenna: du 20-25 avril 2009 aura lieu la troisième édition du Mosaico d’Europa Film Fest : six jours de projections et d'invités au CinemaCity.

Sarajevo verra bientôt sa toute première salle d'art et d'essai ouvrir ses portes. Ce projet est porté par le Young Urban Achivers (www.yuafoundation.org), institution basée en Hollande et l'ancienne salle de cinéma, pour l'instant fermée, le Kriterion Sarajevo (www.kriterion.ba) en Bosnie-Herzegovine.

Le second volet des ateliers Ciné Sans Frontière (CSF), projet de coopération entre l'Amérique latine et l'Europe, qui a pour fin de faciliter la circulation des films latino-américains et européens sur les deux continents, a eu lieu à Toulouse du 23 au 25 mars 2009, pendant les 21è Rencontres Cinémas d’Amérique Latine de Toulouse. Ces ateliers ont été conjointement organisés par Europa Distribution, la Confédération Internationale des Cinémas d’Art et d’essai (CICAE), l’Association Rencontres Cinémas d’Amérique Latine de Toulouse (ARCALT) et le Festival Internacional de Cine Contemporáneo de México (FICCO), grâce au Programme MEDIA de l’Union Européenne.

Le jury CC a remis le Prix Cine en Construcción à Perpetuum mobile de Nicolás Pereda. Le Prix est remis par le Centre National de La Cinématographie (C.N.C), Mac’Tari, Titra Films, la Confédération Internationale des Cinémas d’Art & Essai (CICAE) et Europa Distribution. La CICAE était représentée par Emilia Skiba, KINO.LAB à Varsovie - Pologne.  

Le Prix permettra à l'œuvre primée de bénéficier de services de postproduction et de promotion.

• Panorama :  Ander de Roberto Castón

La CICAE a primé La petite fille de la terre noire de Jeon Soo-il.

C'est la Saint Valentin, le moment idéal pour aller voir un film sur l'amour!!!

Des séances en audio description ont lieu à Paris au cinéma Arlequin les samedi 14 et dimanche 15 à 14h15 et lundi 16 à 20h15. Et bientôt à Marseille, Lyon, Angers ...

The 2009 edition of the "DigiTraining Plus" course: "European Cinemas Experiencing New Technologies" organized by MEDIA Salles will again take place in London, with a visit to Hull, from 25 February to 1 March 2009, will feature a unique and intensive programme, thanks to the collaboration of experts of international renown.
