The 7th European Summer University for young managers of arthouse cinemas organized by CICAE (International Confederation of Art house Cinema) and FICE (Italian Federation of arthouse cinemas) is starting today, Wednesday 31st on the island of San Servolo.
Quality cinema is back on the island of San Servolo from the 31st August to the 8th September with the 7th European Summer University for young managers of arthouse cinemas organized by CICAE( International Confederation of Art house Cinema) and FICE (Italian Federation of arthouse cinemas).
Raffaele Speranzon (assessore for Culture in the Province of Venice) will be opening the seminar with a speech to welcome the participants on Tuesday 31st August at 11am. The seminar will be held over 8 days and will include International conferences and workshops with European professionals that will form the new generation of arthouse theatre managers. Over 45 participants from 27 countries including Lebanon and South Africa will be attending the seminar together with two students from IUAV and one student from Ca’ Foscari. A diploma will be awarded to the best young cinema manager of the Veneto Region on Tuesday 7th September at 5pm by the newly elected president of San Servolo Services, Domenico Finotti.
The association Mercato di Rialto will again this year offer a prize to the best European Project presented during the training. The CICAE Off award in collaboration with Circuito OFF will be announced on the 4th September for the best European short film screened at the festival. On the same day there will also be a prize for Quality Cinema awarded by the Veneto Region.
Teachers from the Triveneto region: Carlo Montanaro of “Giornate del cinema muto” of Pordenone will be giving an overview of the local cinematographic situation.

CICAE forms part of CICT-UNESCO, the principal International organization of cinemas dedicated to quality films. CICAE was founded in 1955 and brings together 3,000 screens (600 in Italy, FICE and AIACE) which welcome 100 million patrons each year as well as over 20 festival partners including Biennale di Venezia, Berlin, Cannes, Locarno, Annecy to name but a few.
