CICAE : 50 anni di amore per il cinema
Dal 1955, la CICAE agisce per la diversità culturale nelle sale cinematografiche e all'interno dei festivals.
Il suo intento: una rete di reti e un ponte tra le sale e i festivals.
Oggi, la CICAE raggruppa 3.000 schermi, attraverso strutture nazionali, alcune sale individuali in 30 paesi, una ventina di festivals e alcuni distributori di cinema d'essai.
La sua portata: 100 milioni di spettatori in Europa
Nei paesi dove il settore d'essai è sviluppato, questa cifra rappresenta il 10/25% della frequentazione dei cinema. Il cinema d'essai difende "il cinema di qualità senza frontiere", anche se, di fatto si dedica maggiormente alle produzioni e coproduzioni europee.
Il cinema d'essai è quindi, anche, un mercato, quello che garantisce al cinema di qualità il suo principale sbocco verso il pubblico cinefilo.
Le sue azioni
• L'azione istituzionale: incentivare la creazione di circuiti nazionali capaci d'agire sul proprio mercato:
ο Proporre sbocchi concreti ai distributori indipendenti;
ο Avviare programmi collettivi: promozione di film, educazione del giovane pubblico, patrimonio cinematografico;
ο Influenzare le politiche statali locali sul modello "francese-tedesco-italiano".
• La formazione: preparare la futura generazione di direttori di cinema d'essai
• La promozione dei film usciti dai festival: favorire la circolazione dei film premiati all'interno dei festivals. Dalla sua fondazione la CICAE è presente nei più importanti festivals, all'interno dei quali ha premiato più di 200 film.
Vi sono giurie di programmatori cinematografici che consegnano un premio CICAE in vari festivals europei. I film che si sono distinti sono poi sostenuti nelle sale che fanno parte del circuito.

MEDIA Salles organizes the seventh edition of the training course "DigiTraining Plus: European Cinemas Experiencing New Technologies" in Helsinki, Finland, from 17 to 21 February 2010.
This initiative, the only one in the MEDIA Programme to focus on the new technologies from the cinemas' point of view, is open to exhibitors and representatives of professional associations and public institutions who wish to prepare themselves for dealing with the digital transition by getting to know the opportunities and risks involved.
The course programme is based on a blend of lectures on burning issues, such as the present position with regard to standards and the availability of digital contents, the identification of business models that have already been tried out or are being adopted in Europe and the prospects for 3D, with visits to cinemas that use digital projection and talks by well-known international professional players.

29 Luglio 2009 - Searching for used equipment for opening a new cinema
In the middle of September 2009 a new arthouse cinema in Vilnius, Lithuania, will be opened.
It is the first private initiative in the country to screen arthouse films, there will be 2 screens (155 and 85).
We have collected most of the required equipment and seats from the cinemas that have closed recently, however some items are still missing.
